Watch Field Day RecordingJoin the conversation on how various crop and livestock industry stakeholders in the US view the current challenges affecting genome-to-phenome research and policy. Panelists will be answering questions from moderator, David Ertl (Iowa Corn), before fielding questions from the audience. For example, panelists will share their views on:
- How connecting genetic and phenotype information will be helpfulto their industry, breeders and farmers.
- What are some of the most important challenges regardinggenetically controlled traits, the environment, and phenotypes.
- How understanding the genetics of traits and their interactions withenvironments and management practices can help farmers.
Presenters
Janet Fulton has been at Hy-Line International for over 25 years as a molecular geneticist. Her perspective of the poultry industry comes from both practical application and basic science. She has been actively involved with multiple USDA Stakeholders meetings, NPIP, Poultry Breeders Roundtable, ADOL Poultry Industry Coalition and Poultry Science Foundation.
Josh White serves as Sr. Executive Director - Producer Education & Sustainability for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA). He is a fourth-generation cattleman and currently serves on the board of directors of the Beef Improvement Federation, co-leads Outreach Working Group at the US Roundtable for Sustainable Beef and represents NCBA as co-chair of the Cattle Health & Welfare committee of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef.
Kater Hake is Vice President of Agricultural and Environmental Research at Cotton Incorporated where he is responsible for the cotton production research program. Kater leads a team of 7 Research Directors who develop and support innovative problem-solving research with a network of 300 public sector scientists to increase the profitability and sustainability of cotton farming in the U.S.
Fan-Li Chou is Senior Vice President for Scientific Affairs & Policy at the American Seed Trade Association, where she leads ASTA initiatives on plant breeding innovation, intellectual property rights, domestic and international regulatory policies. Prior to ASTA, Fan-Li served at USDA for over 10 years. She is an accomplished policy and program leader with expertise in agricultural biotechnology regulation and trade issues.
